There’s a new craze in town and everyone, including celebrities, are jumping on the bandwagon.

There’s a new monster in town and everyone seems to want one. POP MART is selling them like hotcakes and resellers are making out like bandits because of their popularity. So, what’s the deal with this new trend that appeared out of nowhere overnight?

Believe it or not, they were created years ago but just recently took over everyone’s TikTok FYP. Created by Hong Kong-based artist Kasing Lung, and originally part of the “Monster Little” universe produced by POP MART, Labubu is stealing hearts and creating fans in droves. Many credit TikTok for bringing the craze to 2025 and creating more and more diehard fans seeking a collection of their own.

Some psychotherapists claim that the popularity is driven by the fact that these little guys are hard to find creating a desire to participate in the trend, which makes the hunt just as important as the Labubu itself. And then add the excitement of the blind boxes where you don’t know which Labubu you’re going to get, and thus, a craze is born.

Celebrities Are Joining In On The Labubu Trend

Many celebrities have shared that they have a Labubu, or many, including Lizzo, Hailey Bieber, and Simone Biles.

Former Playmate Holly Madison is also known to have a soft spot for Labubu and has shared her finds on social media.

She recently shared a “Labubu unboxing” video on TikTok and Instagram.

“Holly you are keeping me young because I had no idea about these adorable little gremlin critters and I want one so bad,” one viewer wrote in the comments. Another added, “I love that ur just like us.”

Bethenny Frankel Also Loves Labubu

Former “Real Housewives of New York” star Bethenny Frankel recently shared that she owns a Labubu in a video on TikTok.

“Oh my God. Wait, I’m obsessed with this,” she said. “I went from thinking this is the most stupid thing that I’ve ever seen to thinking it’s the most brilliant thing that I’ve ever seen. It is a significant portion of my personality now.”

She showed her Labubu’s outfits, shoes, and purses and how she clips her new friend onto her bag, creating even more buzz for fans.

“Ugh Bethany has a Labubu so now I need to pick up a shift to buy one,” one viewer wrote in the comments. Another said, “I got one too! I never would have thought but, I’m obsessed!” One other viewer shared, “Brings my inner child out I love being free and not worried about if ppl think it’s cringe or ugly bc my inner child is happy.”

Some Are Going For Big Money!

The Labubu frenzy has fans seeking near and far for their very own. While POP MART sells out often, resellers are trying to keep mass quantities in stock.

Royal One, a sneaker boutique inside Miracle Mile Shops in Las Vegas, has seen huge increase in customers coming in looking for their very own Labubu. The stores has everything from keychains to small figures to larger Labubus, as well as clothes and accessories. The price range for a Labubu at Royal One goes from $60 up to $650 depending on the type and size.

“Labubus are taking over. We are a shoe store but sell more Labubus each day lately,” said Royal One owner, Chase Briner. “Recently, we’ve been selling on average 30 a day. Kids, adults, and grandparents are all looking for a new color or design.”

The trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime too soon. Royal One gets more shoppers in the store each day looking for a Labubu, and many opt for the mystery boxes, or blind boxes, for even more excitement.

NBC News recently reported that a 4-foot-tall Labubu sold for more than $170,000 at the Yongle International Auction in Beijing. It was billed as the world’s first auction dedicated to Labubu collectibles and sold all 48 lots for a total sale of 3.73 million yuan, or approximately $520,000.
