What’s new at Hong Kong Disneyland as it celebrates its 20th anniversary?

MANILA, Philippines – Can the happiest place on earth get even happier?

When it’s celebrating a huge milestone, it most definitely can.

Hong Kong Disneyland already boasts unique attractions like “World of Frozen” — considered the first and largest Frozen-themed village within the parks across the world —  and Mystic Manor, which many people would argue is the one ride you really have to try during your visit.

But the beloved theme park marked its 20th year on June 28 with “The Most Magical Party of All,” a grand celebration that’s set to last year-round. This means that even if you weren’t able to make it to the exact anniversary, you still have the rest of the year to join in on the magic.

What’s new at Hong Kong Disneyland as it celebrates its 20th anniversary?

Here’s what’s new at Hong Kong Disneyland:

‘Friendtastic!’ Parade

The “Friendtastic!” Parade is Hong Kong Disneyland’s biggest one yet — a fitting introduction to its 20th anniversary celebration.

The parade features 11 floats, 30 Disney characters from movies like Zootopia, Turning Red, Up, and Toy Story, among others, and over 100 performers you can interact with during the route — staying true to the “Friendtastic!” part of the parade’s title.

The parade runs twice a day along Main Street, USA with each show lasting for 30 minutes.

You can check the parade schedules on the Hong Kong Disneyland app, or on the bulletin boards around the theme park. I recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the show starts, as the walkways fill up quickly with audiences who are also eager to catch the show.

‘Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle!’

If you aren’t able to catch the “Friendtastic!” Parade during your visit, there’s also “Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle!” — a mini-concert that features song and dance performances from Mickey and Friends, Duffy and Friends, and Disney Princesses Belle, Tiana, and Aurora.

Think of this as a daytime special, where there are LED screens, balloons, banners, fog jets, and cold pyro effects present to elevate it all.

Held on the stage right in front of the iconic Castle of Magical Dreams, performances happen three to five times a day and last for about 15 minutes each.

Crowds for this show also form fast, so be sure to check the schedules on the Hong Kong Disneyland app or the bulletin boards around the park if you want to secure a spot towards the front.

20th anniversary-themed photo spots

Looking to immortalize your Hong Kong Disneyland trip? Do so by taking photos with Disney mascots dressed in 20th anniversary garb.

Mickey and Friends – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, and Goofy — will be scattered along Main Street USA and at the Fantasy Gardens for photo ops with park goers.

Meanwhile, you can find Duffy and Friends at the Duffy and Friends Playhouse.

There will be a photographer present at each photo spot with mascots, so you can purchase your professionally taken photos afterwards.

At the end of your turn, you will be given a PhotoPass card, where you can preview the photos through the Hong Kong Disney Photo Pass app and purchase them on the spot. You can then pick up your physical photos at select locations in the park.

But you can also just hand your phone to the staff member at the photo spot to take photos and videos for you, which is completely free of charge.

Besides the mascots, however, there are four other photo spots around the park that you can line up to take snapshots in front of. There’s an anniversary-themed welcome arch at the Park Promenade, a golden Mickey head at the Town Square, a “party runway” along Main Street, U.S.A., and anniversary-themed displays at the Castle Hub.

‘Momentous: Party in the Sky’

“Momentous” is a staple nighttime spectacle at Hong Kong Disneyland — one that visitors really wait to see at the end of their visit. For the theme park’s 20th anniversary, however, the fan-favorite evening show boasts grander features that make it worth lining up for.

“Momentous: Party in the Sky” features nearly 200 new scenes, new Disney characters like Duffy and Friends projected onto the night sky, and even more 3D projections on the buildings along Main Street, USA, to go with the eye-catching 3D mapping on the Castle of Magical Dreams.

This show is a feast for the senses, care of the music, drone formations, water fountain choreography, 3D projections, and fireworks that add color to the whole thing.

Each “Momentous: Party in the Night Sky” show happens every day at 8:30 pm along Main Street USA.

20th anniversary merch

Hong Kong Disneyland introduced a line of new merchandise to mark its 20th anniversary – each item donning the colors blue, gold, pink, and violet.

Among the early fan favorites are the SouvenEAR hat bag charms, which come in 20 different designs patterned after Mickey and Friends, Duffy and Friends, and several variations of the iconic Mickey ears. Each bag charm is priced at $59 HKD.

20th anniversary food

The celebration persists all the way to the table, as Hong Kong Disneyland also whipped up 20th anniversary meals, desserts, snacks, and drinks — which you can find all around the stalls in the park, the restaurants inside it, as well as the dining establishments across the hotels in the resort.

For instance, the Mickey and Friends Caramel & Banana Flavored Popcorn Duffy and Friends Caramel & Pineapple Flavored Popcorn will be available for purchase from the popcorn stalls around Hong Kong Disneyland for $45 HKD per scoop.

The Mickey and Friends popcorn is available until December 31 this year, while the Duffy and Friends one will go on sale from January 1, 2026, to June 28, 2026.
