Wells ranks second in UK for online porn searches | Local News | News | Wells Nub News

Wells has been named one of the UK’s most porn-obsessed places — coming second only to Newcastle in a new nationwide ranking.

Residents in the Somerset city made an average of 2.9 porn-related searches per person per month, according to new data compiled by online pharmacy MedExpress.

That puts Wells ahead of major cities like Manchester, Salford and Birmingham in terms of per-head interest in adult content.

The study analysed search volume for ten terms, including “porn”, “AI porn”, “lesbian porn”, “threesome”, and “bukkake”, cross-referenced with population size to reveal the areas with the highest average number of porn searches per resident.

In Wells, that equates to an estimated 32,900 monthly searches overall — despite its population of just over 10,000.

Newcastle topped the table with 3.27 monthly searches per person. Manchester was third with 2.52, followed by Durham, Salford and Norwich. London ranked 11th, while Cambridge came bottom with just 0.06.

The results sparked a mix of surprise and laughter online, with Wells locals reacting to the unexpected second-place finish.

MedExpress said the study aimed to understand “how interests and internet habits vary by region”, adding that searches had surged for more niche content in recent years.

The data only covers search terms — not viewing habits or time spent — and does not reveal what content was actually accessed.
