The Port of Southampton in the United Kingdom recently celebrated the inaugural visit of Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Fantasy, marking a significant milestone for the British port and the tourism industry in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Norway, and Denmark. The vessel made its first stop at the port on July 31, 2025, beginning a summer series of cruises to various destinations across Europe.

ABP Southampton, the port authority, reported that the vessel was guided into the port with the support of the port’s team, including marine pilots and various operational units. The Disney Fantasy is set to sail from Southampton throughout the summer season, offering an exciting range of cruises designed to boost tourism to popular European destinations.

Maiden Cruise to Northern Spain and Key European Ports

The Disney Fantasy began its maiden voyage from Southampton with a five-night cruise to Northern Spain. This inaugural trip included visits to La Coruña and Bilbao, two popular Spanish destinations known for their rich history and vibrant culture. The Disney Fantasy is part of a broader effort by Disney Cruise Line to expand its European itineraries, with the ship set to visit several other notable ports across Scandinavia, the British Isles, and Western Europe.

The ship will continue to visit several key ports, including Ålesund, Olden, and Stavanger in Norway. These destinations are becoming increasingly popular among travelers seeking authentic Nordic experiences, such as exploring picturesque fjords and scenic coastal landscapes. The ship is also scheduled to dock in Cherbourg and La Rochelle in France, as well as Copenhagen in Denmark, offering diverse cultural experiences to tourists. In addition, Liverpool in England will be another stop for the Disney Fantasy, offering British visitors a convenient departure point for this international cruise.

Enhanced Tourism with Disney Fantasy’s Presence

The Disney Fantasy’s visits to these destinations represent a significant boost to tourism in the region. Northern Europe, including Scandinavia and the British Isles, is witnessing increasing interest from travelers who are eager to explore the stunning natural beauty and historical landmarks the area has to offer. The arrival of Disney Cruise Line’s renowned vessel in these ports serves as a testament to the growing appeal of European cruises and their positive impact on local economies.

Tourism-related businesses in these regions are set to benefit from the increased number of international visitors, many of whom will explore the unique culture, cuisine, and history of the destinations on offer. Additionally, the cruise line’s focus on providing high-quality services ensures that tourists will have an exceptional experience, further encouraging repeat visits and boosting the region’s reputation as a must-visit European destination.

The Cruise Season, A Growing Trend in European Tourism

The Disney Fantasy will continue to sail from the Port of Southampton through late September, offering a range of cruises designed to cater to various traveler preferences. The vessel’s deployment includes cruises ranging from three to eight nights, with itineraries covering some of Europe’s most iconic and sought-after destinations. These cruises not only provide convenient access to these locations but also offer an elevated level of luxury and entertainment that Disney is known for, further enhancing the appeal of European cruise tourism.

As the Disney Fantasy completes its European season, the ship is set to undergo routine maintenance, including a dry dock, before returning to North America. However, this is not the end of Disney Cruise Line’s European operations for the year. In mid-November 2025, the vessel will begin its winter season from Port Canaveral in Florida.

Disney Dream to Take Over European Cruises in 2026

Looking ahead to 2026, the Disney Dream, another one of Disney Cruise Line’s popular vessels, will take over the European itineraries, continuing the trend of providing memorable cruise experiences to travelers. The Disney Dream is scheduled to arrive in Southampton in mid-July 2026, bringing with it a series of three- to seven-night cruises to the Norwegian Fjords and Western Europe. The cruise season will conclude with a weeklong journey to the British Isles, offering a fantastic way to end the summer season.

This transition between ships marks the ongoing expansion of Disney Cruise Line’s European offerings and emphasizes their commitment to boosting tourism in the region. By introducing new itineraries and enhancing the luxury cruise experience, Disney is positioning the European cruise market as a key travel sector for global tourists.
