UK’s best affordable restaurants revealed including family favourite chain – check if your local made the list

BRITAIN’S best affordable restaurants have been revealed, with a family favourite chain among the winners.

Tripadvisor has unveiled the winners of its Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants, which celebrates the food joints that have been given the highest rating from diners.

A total of 25 restaurants have been named in the casual dining category of the travel website’s annual awards, with curry houses, brunch spots, steakhouses, and even a restaurant dedicated to mashed potato making the list.

The awards are based on the number of “above-and-beyond” reviews and opinions restaurants received from Tripadvisor users over 12 months.

With over eight million listings on the popular website, which is used by many travellers and diners around the world to help them decide where to eat out, fewer than 1% of restaurants are named in the awards.

Six of the casual dining restaurants in this year’s awards are based in Scotland, while London has just three winners.

This year, family favourite chain Bill’s, which has more than 40 branches nationwide and is known for its large all-day menu, was among the winners.

Its busy London Soho branch was named as the 17th best casual dining spot in Britain, rated 4.3 out of 5 from 3,185 reviews.

Tripadvisor hails it as a “lively” joint with “outdoor tables and colourful decor that add to the charm”, with diners also mentioning its “generous portions”.

Here are the “best of the best” casual dining restaurants for 2025, according to Tripadvisor users.
