Typhoon Fengshen affects ferry services, cools temperatures in southeast China

Southeast China’s Fujian Province has suspended passenger ferry services, while Guangdong Province has experienced a temperature drop due to storms from the approaching Typhoon Fengshen, the 24th typhoon of the year.

According to the forecast of the Fujian Meteorological Observatory, influenced by both cold air and the outer area of Typhoon Fengshen, the province is facing gale from Sunday to Tuesday, with wind force from 63 km/h to 103 km/h.

For safety considerations, as of 16:00 on Sunday, a total of 55 passenger ferry routes and 120 passenger ferries along the coast of Fujian were suspended, among which four “Mini Three Links” routes between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan were also suspended.

According to the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, strong winds along the coast of the province will continue in the coming days, with wind speeds reaching above 63 km/h.

According to the Meteorological Bureau of Guangdong Province, the temperature in the province will generally drop by six to ten degrees Celsius from Sunday to Tuesday.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the central and southern counties and cities of Guangdong will experience rainfall, and the province will also be hit by strong winds.

Typhoon Fengshen is expected to move into the eastern waters of the South China Sea around Sunday evening, with its intensity gradually strengthening, local authorities said.
