Trump guns for China with 100% tariffs, skips mentioning India in latest salvo over Russia oil – World News

US President Donald Trump has urged NATO allies to take bold, coordinated action against China and Russia as it could swiftly end the war in Ukraine. He proposed imposing 50–100% tariffs on Chinese goods. However, in the latest update, Trump has not mentioned India, which could indicate a warming relationship between India and the USA.

On September 5, President Trump wrote on Truth Social that it seems the US had “lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China.” However, he later softened his tone, saying, “I’ll always be friends with (Narendra) Modi,” and added that “India and the United States have a special relationship.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi later responded saying, the India-US partnership is “very positive and forward-looking.”

Sanctions against Russian oil purchasers

Trump, on his handle on Truth Social, said, “I am ready to impose major sanctions on Russia when all NATO nations have agreed, and started, to do the same thing, and when all NATO nations stop buying oil from Russia.”

This latest letter follows similar threats of sanctions against Moscow and countries buying crude oil from it.

He also explained regarding sanctions on the Russian oil-purchasing nation, “As you know, NATO’S commitment to WIN has been far less than 100%, and the purchase of Russian Oil, by some, has been shocking! It greatly weakens your negotiating position, and bargaining power, over Russia.”

Last month, the US president imposed an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods, citing the country’s continued imports of Russian oil, taking the total tariff to 50 per cent. However, the US has not taken similar action against China. India and China could be the most affected nations if there is no progress to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Not Trump’s war?

Trump also stated that if he were the President, the war would not have happened, and he is there to end the war. The post reads, “This is not TRUMP’S WAR (it would never have started if I was President!), it is Biden’s and Zelenskyy’s WAR. I am only here to help stop it, and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives (7,118 lives lost last week, alone. CRAZY!). “
