Who doesn’t love a good cup of coffee and a sweet treat to go along with it? Espresso shots, lattes, cappuccinos, a simple cup of Joe – the options are endless and delicious.
The Binghamton area has some wonderful and unique cafés, many which recently opened, with their own way of serving up the classics to wake you up in the morning or give you a pick-me-up midway through the work day.
If one of these isn’t already your regular coffee shop, you may want to try them out and see if their twist on your go-to drink could be your new favorite.
Otto’s Coffee Roasters
Coe Young, owner of the former Laveggio Roasteria, recently opened up a new café on State Street in Binghamton known as Otto’s Coffee Roasters.
Otto’s is “not an ordinary coffee business,” Young said. He, his business partner and his roasting apprentice are dedicated to providing customers with high quality coffee and ambiance.
Otto’s opened their doors on Nov. 15 and since then, Young said business has been booming.
He was surprised and overwhelmed with the “outpouring of support” he said they’ve seen from customers.
Young further stated the support from the community proves their café has a place in downtown Binghamton.
Roasting apprentice and front-of-house manager Emma Dofton agreed, saying the community has welcomed the café “with open arms,” and she “couldn’t be happier” with how everything has come together at Otto’s.
Otto’s Coffee Roasters is located at 178 State St. in Binghamton and is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Batch Coffee
Batch Coffee, an arm of Beer Tree Brewing, recently opened up their third café, located at 3010 E Main St. in Endwell.
Co-owner Brendan Harder explained the idea for expansion came from noticing that Endwell residents were “driving across town” to their other locations in Binghamton and Johnson City for Batch Coffee items.
Batch Coffee’s newest location in Endwell held their grand opening on Nov. 20 and since then, business has been going “really well,” according to Melissa Powell, director of operations.
“The community has been extremely welcoming” said Powell, “and the staff is enjoying getting to meet new customers and sharing our love of craft coffee.”
Batch Coffee is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

7 Brew Coffee
7 Brew Coffee recently opened their second location in the Binghamton area.
The franchise opened their Upper Front Street location on Nov. 13, just over a year after the opening of their first location in Vestal.
This location is one of many drive-thru drink stands nationwide, and features seven original coffee flavors, hence the name, along with the coffee classics.
In a statement, owner Keli Oven said, “we believe that our ingredients are better, our value is stronger and service is faster.”
7-Brew Coffee is open every day from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Café Liuga Haus
Cafe Liuga Haus opened their doors in August, located at 81 Clinton St. in Binghamton.
Owners Gabe Tanenhaus, Jinying Liu, and Jesse Gaddis explained that the goal of the new café is to introduce new and diverse foods to downtown Binghamton, create and foster a community within the café, and have a space that allows for artists of all kinds to come together and share their art.
Café Liuga Haus has a diverse menu, from year-round unique ice cream flavors, coffee and tea to bakery items, sandwiches and dumplings.
The café is open 3-8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
