On Instagram, Ross Duffer wrote, “Over 1.1 million of you have already RSVPed to the finale screenings on NYE and New Year’s Day, and more than 3,500 showtimes across 620+ theaters are already completely full.” He continued, “What a way to close out a ten-year journey—together. Maybe we’ll see some of you in LA.”
Variety recently reported that the sci-fi mystery fantasy thriller surpassed 1.2 billion views. The outlet also said that the show “contributed more than $1.4 billion to the U.S. GDP.”
The Stranger Things Season 5 finale’s theatrical release was announced in October 2025, two months before the final installment’s premiere. The screenings will take place in participating US and Canadian theaters, beginning at 5 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on December 31, 2025 — the same time it premieres globally on Netflix — and running until January 1, 2026. The list of participating theaters can be found on the finale’s official website. Notably, the finale, or “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up,” has a runtime of 2 hours and 5 minutes.
The finale’s theatrical release is reportedly not a ticketed event. Fans who book a reservation at AMC by paying $20, for instance, don’t pay the ticket price and instead get a concession voucher (via Deadline).
The first two volumes of Stranger Things Season 5 are currently streaming on Netflix.
