Premier League winger ready to join Barcelona with no strings attached; agent contacts club

Luis Diaz has once again become the key focus at Barcelona following the club’s failed pursuit of Nico Williams.

The Liverpool superstar was one of Barça’s top attacking targets this summer, and with Nico no longer an option, the club are once again eyeing a move for the attacker.

Recent reports have indicated that Diaz is no longer up for grabs, with Liverpool not too keen on offloading an attacker, especially after the demise of Diogo Jota.

Luis Diaz wants Barcelona move

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Luis Diaz remains as determined as ever in his bid to join Barcelona this summer.

The player’s agent has contacted Barcelona confirming the club that Diaz will not demand any clause that would require the club to register him immediately.

Even if Barça fail to register him, Diaz won’t demand to leave the club as a free agent. This was one of the sticking points in the Nico deal, but it won’t be a problem for Diaz.

Diaz’s agent has also informed Barcelona that Liverpool are in desperate need of fresh sales due to the costs incurred by the club through its summer signings, including Florian Wirtz.

The sale of Diaz, therefore, could prove to be critical in their bid to recoup the amount invested in the German international.

This could play into the hands of Barcelona, who never really ruled out Diaz in anticipation of the Nico deal not working out.

The Colombian international, in fact, was always the preferred choice for sporting director Deco, which is why Barcelona never closed his file.

In the final days of the Nico saga, Diaz’s agent even sent Barcelona signals of reproach. And now, with the Nico deal dead in the water, it will be interesting to see if the Catalans can indeed make a move for the Colombian.
