Premier League side Wolves are now interested in 23-year-old Barcelona defender

The summer transfer window is now in full swing, and FC Barcelona want to be an active part of it. There have been some movements already, but the Catalan club is yet to make an official move. In terms of both signings and departures, Barcelona have to make some moves soon.

For now, there has been some movement from Barça in regards to new summer signings, with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia being heavily linked to the club. Moreover, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard is expected to join Barcelona soon enough.

However, in terms of departures, there have not been a lot of developments. That is mainly because Barcelona has been focused on renewing some key contracts first, the latest of which was that of Lamine Yamal until 2031.

Now, however, there has been some development in regards to potential interest in a Barcelona player from another club. According to Matteo Moretto, Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers is currently interested in potentially signing Barça full-back Gerard Martin.

Barcelona will likely take their time

The 23-year-old Spanish left-back primarily served as a back-up option for Alejandro Balde this season, and definitely had his moments to shine. With performances like that, it does not come as a surprise to see another club being interested in his services.

Moreover, if Barcelona do end up letting go of Martin this summer, they would need to reinforce the left-back position as well or promote someone from the youth teams. As for Wolves, they managed to stay just above the relegation zone this season, so their fight in the Premier League next season will require reinforcements.

For the time being, however, no immediate action will likely be taken. Barcelona will first need to assess their options and whether or not letting go of Martin is even going to benefit them in any way.
