Premier League giants ‘won’t beg’ for Real Madrid defender to remain at the club

Real Madrid are facing a delicate situation with Vinicius Jr., as negotiations over his renewal continue to drag on

In that regard, according to a report from SPORT, club president Florentino Perez is not against the idea of turning the Brazilian into the highest-paid player in the squad, but only if the numbers do not exceed the club’s strict salary structure.

Notably, the summer was full of uncertainty for Vinicius.

Although rumours circulated and some even questioned whether he could leave, the forward never presented an offer to depart, and Madrid never received an official proposal for his transfer.

As a result, the scenario remains unchanged, with renewal talks still on the table but without progress.

Vinicius pushing for recognition

Vinicius is using his status and importance within the squad to push for an improved deal. He aims to become the top earner at Real Madrid, something Perez is open to, but only within the boundaries of financial discipline.

The Brazilian knows that convincing the president and a Madrid fanbase that remains somewhat divided requires him to step up on the pitch.

After a disappointing season in which his performances dipped, he must now prove he deserves that extra financial recognition.

The club’s stance is that no individual, no matter how important, will be allowed to disrupt the wage structure that has kept the team’s finances stable.

The road ahead

Vinicius’ current contract runs until 2027, which means there is still time for negotiations.

However, allowing the deal to run down completely could put Madrid at risk of losing a valuable asset for free, an outcome that would be damaging for the club, no matter how much officials insist they are relaxed about the situation.

For now, the ball is in Vinicius’ court. If he delivers consistently at the highest level, Perez may well reward him with the status he is demanding.

But if not, Real Madrid are unlikely to compromise their long-standing salary limits for any player.
