Crystal Palace have reportedly made an approach to sign Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji as Oliver Glasner looks to strengthen his back line before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The Eagles are understood to have contacted City to enquire about the Swiss international’s availability, although no formal bid has yet been submitted.
According to BBC Sport, the Etihad Stadium outfit would want in the region of £15million for Akanji, who has not featured in either of City’s opening two league matches.
The 30-year-old was left out of the squad entirely for Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Tottenham after being an unused substitute in the opening-day win at Wolves.
Akanji joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 and played a key role in their Treble triumph a year later, starting the Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.
He has won seven trophies in total under Pep Guardiola but now faces an uncertain future at the Etihad.

Turkish champions Galatasaray are also keen on signing Akanji, with City braced for a busy few days before the transfer window shuts.
Galatasaray have been linked with goalkeeper Ederson as well, while Tottenham are exploring a move for winger Savinho.
Guardiola has admitted he needs to trim his squad after more than £150m worth of summer arrivals, warning earlier this month that it was ‘not healthy’ to carry so many senior players.
City return to action at Brighton on Sunday. Palace, who recently sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, face their first Europa Conference League away trip, to Norway’s Fredrikstad, on Thursday before visiting Aston Villa three days later.
Meanwhile, Glasner’s side continue to weigh up options amid ongoing speculation surrounding Marc Guehi, who has just a year left on his contract and is a target for Liverpool.
