Dhanbad: Physiotherapy Day was observed at the Press Club premises on Monday, where doctors highlighted that poor lifestyle, lack of exercise, and excessive screen time are the leading causes of rising physical pain among people. They urged citizens to adopt healthy habits and simple physiotherapy techniques to improve their health. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sk Gupta of SNMCH said physiotherapy has emerged as one of the most effective means to relieve various kinds of physical pain. He explained that modern physiotherapy now makes use of advanced equipment and techniques, which significantly help patients suffering from chronic conditions. “Physiotherapy has changed the way we treat pain. Today, several techniques are available that can bring quick and lasting relief if followed properly,” he said. The programme witnessed the participation of hundreds of journalists and their family members, who were trained in simple physiotherapy exercises and postures. Doctors demonstrated easy home-based techniques to get relief from everyday pains such as backache, neck stiffness, and joint pain. They also advised adopting correct sitting and sleeping postures to prevent the onset of chronic problems. Dr. Chandan, a physiotherapist, cautioned that excessive mobile phone use and long hours of bike riding are becoming major contributors to cervical spondylitis and related issues. “In most cases of neck and back pain, mobile screen time and faulty postures play a significant role,” he said. He suggested limiting gadget use and incorporating posture correction as an essential habit for long-term relief. Doctors concluded by appealing to people to combine regular exercise, a balanced diet, and physiotherapy practices for a healthier lifestyle. The event aimed to spread awareness and encourage preventive care to reduce the growing burden of lifestyle-related physical ailments.
