Patrick Bamford in advanced talks with Getafe after Leeds exit

Patrick Bamford is in advanced talks with Getafe after leaving Leeds United as a free agent in August.

Leeds announced Bamford’s departure on August 28, with the 32-year-old having one year remaining on his deal at Elland Road.

His exit came just over a month after manager Daniel Farke said he would not be part of his plans for the coming season.

Bamford joined Leeds from Middlesborough in 2018 and helped the side win promotion in 2019-20 — ending their 16-year Premier League absence — and 2024-25. He made 205 appearances during his seven years at the club, scoring 60 goals, including 17 during the 2020-21 Premier League season.

Last season, however, Bamford started only once in all competitions, failing to score in 18 appearances as Leeds won the Championship, after struggling with injuries and falling down Farke’s pecking order.

The striker would be the second arrival at the Spanish side from England this month after Abu Kamara joined on loan from Hull City on transfer deadline day, September 1.

A move to Getafe would represent a first move outside of England for Bamford, having spent his 14-year senior career in the English Football League and Premier League.

Getafe are eighth in La Liga, having won three of their opening five games.
