Imane Khelif, an Algerian boxer who won gold at the Paris Olympics, has named Elon Musk and JK Rowlings in her complaint against “cyber bullying”.
Khelif, who had been in the docks before over her gender eligibility, faced severe criticism after defeating Itanian boxer Angela Carini in an opening-round bout in just 46 seconds at the Olympics.
After winning gold in the Olympics, Khelif filed a legal complaint in France.
Both Elon Musk and JK Rowling have been named in the complaint, which was filed against X on Friday, according to Variety.
“JK Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others,” attorney Nabil Boudi told Variety on Tuesday.
Boudi also said that former US President Donald Trump would be part of the probe. However, he said it wasn’t clear if he would be named in the complaint.
“Trump tweeted, so whether or not he is named in our lawsuit, he will inevitably be looked into as part of the prosecution,” the attorney added.

After Khelif’s fight with Carini, JK Rowling, renowned author of “Harry Potter” author, wrote: “The idea that those objecting to a male punching a female in the name of sport are objecting because they believe Khelif to be ‘trans’ is a joke. We object because we saw a male punching a female.”
After the match, ex-collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines wrote: “Men don’t belong in women’s sports #IStandWithAngelaCarini.”
Tesla chief Musk, who also owns X, reposted Gaines’ post, adding “Absolutely”.
‘I am woman like any woman’, says Kheif
After winning the historic gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Imane Khelif addresed the gender controversy that shadowed her victory with determination and poise.
“I am a woman like any woman,” declared Khelif during a post-fight press conference.
“I was born a woman and I have lived as a woman, but there are enemies to success who can’t digest my success. That also gives my success a special taste,” news agency Reuters quoted Khelif, as she emphasised her identity and resilience in the face of detractors.
Controversy not new
The controversy surrounding Khelif is not new. She was disqualified from the International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s Championships last year due to elevated testosterone levels.
Nevertheless, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) cleared her to compete in the Paris Olympics, despite the IBA’s ban on Olympic boxing owing to governance issues.
This decision by the IOC has been a focal point of the ongoing debate.
