Official: Piccoli sold to Fiorentina by Cagliari

The 24-year-old is a product of the Atalanta youth academy and went on several loan experiences to Spezia, Genoa, Empoli and Lecce.

He was sold to Cagliari last month for €12.5m following the initial loan, but then immediately made the next step up in his career to Fiorentina.

Curiously, the two teams faced off in Sardinia yesterday for the opening Serie A game of the season, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Piccoli did not play in that match, as it was already known he would be joining the Viola.

He scored 11 goals with four assists for Cagliari last season in 40 competitive games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
