Nothing has issued an intriguing teaser for a brand new product, and it has fans of the brand puzzled.
The London-based tech brand has taken to X to post a retro picture of the Pokémon Feraligatr. It suggests that a new product is incoming, as Nothing tends to give its products Pokémon-themed codenames. But what could it be?
We can’t be sure, but there are at least a few indicators as to what it probably isn’t.
Nothing Feraligatr product speculation
Over on the Nothing community page, Community Manager Rob Goodwin posted the same image under the title ‘Here comes Feraligatr’.
He also but expanded a little with the following comment:
“New codename = New product”, before inviting speculation on what it might be referring to.
The fact that it’s referred to as a “new product” suggests that it isn’t a Nothing Phone (3) Pro or Ultra. Also, Nothing co-founder and CEO Carl Pei appeared to put a kibosh on any potential extension to the series back in July when he asserted that “the 3 series familia is complete” with the launch of the Nothing Phone (3).

Nothing
Might it be the Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition – technically a new variant of an existing model, created in collaboration with Nothing fans? We know one is coming, but it would be a stretch to call it a “new product”.
Also, we don’t recall the Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition being accompanied by a whole new codename following on from the Nothing Phone (2a), aka ‘Aerodactyl’.
Indeed, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus – a much newer product than any Community Edition makeover – went under the ‘Mega Aerodactyl’ codename, which as any Pokémon fan will tell you is an evolved version of ‘Aerodactyl’.
Nothing tablet or smartwatch?
Other fan speculation about the Nothing Feraligatr is that it could be Nothing’s first tablet.
It could also be the first smartwatch to carry the full fat Nothing name. The brand has released smartwatches before, but only under the CMF budget sub-brand, most recently with the CMF Watch Pro 2.
It’s certainly conceivable that the brand would look to join the more premium smartwatch market, potentially undercutting the Google Pixel Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 8.
Of course, what a lot of Nothing phone users will be wanting right now is new software, not hardware. The company promised that Android 16 was “later this autumn” on 1 July. Speaking of which, Feraligatr is number 160 on the Pokédex – was Nothing talking about a new software product all along?
I need a lie down.
