Good news for the North American market and the rest of the world because the Nissan N7 EV – Nissan’s new EV that’s absolutely smashing it in China – is going global.
Originally unveiled for the Chinese market, the N7 did better than expected.
So, essentially, it is going global by popular demand.
Only two questions remain.

Earlier this year, Nissan announced a new China-only electric sedan called the N7 EV.
It flew off the shelves because people loved the styling and because the value for money is obvious.
For $16,000 – that’s the starting price – you get a nice sedan with Level 2 autonomy, 317 miles of range, and 215HP.
As a result, the Nissan N7 EV set a sales record with 10,000 orders in just 18 days.
The rest of the world was left waiting on the sidelines until earlier this month, when Nissan confirmed the N7 EV will be sold elsewhere after all.
And there’s more good news, because Nissan might revive the Primera nameplate for this car.
That’s great, but there are huge elephants in the room that must be addressed.
First, with the sole exception of Tesla, no non-Chinese automaker has been allowed to operate in China without a local joint venture.
The same goes for Nissan’s new EV, which is a Dongfeng-Nissan product.
So the first question is whether Nissan can or even wants to sell this as a Nissan-only product outside of China, without any help from Dongfeng.
The second elephant quietly walking around the room, trying not to walk into any of grandma’s silver, is the price.
It’d be great if Nissan managed to somehow sell this electric car in the North American market or Europe for $16,000, but, realistically, that sounds far-fetched.
