According to a report from Chinese media outlet Mydrivers, information on LinkedIn shows that Ian Yang, who retired from Intel in 2021 as President of Intel China, joined AMD at the end of 2024 as Corporate Vice President and Lenovo Global Account Manager.
As the report highlights, the former Intel executive—once deemed the “AMD Killer”—has drawn industry attention by joining Intel’s longtime rival. According to his LinkedIn profile, Yang served as President of Intel China from 2009 to 2021, following earlier roles including General Manager at Intel China.
Sources cited in the report indicate that Yang initially reported directly to AMD CEO Lisa Su, though his reporting line may have since been adjusted.
During his tenure at Intel, Yang was best known for curbing AMD’s momentum in China between 2004 and 2007. As the report notes, AMD had gained a 19.1% share of the Chinese market by the end of 2005 through partnerships with several domestic PC brands.
