Newcastle Want to Sign ‘Unbelievable’ Premier League Star Amid PSR Concerns

Newcastle United continue to hold an interest in Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, who is “one to watch” this summer, according to The i Paper.

Securing Champions League football on the final day of the 2024/25 season served as the perfect bonus to an already magical campaign for Newcastle United. Earlier in the term, the Magpies beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final to secure their first piece of major English silverware in 70 years.

This, combined with finishing in a Champions League spot for the second time in three seasons, is a testament to the incredible work that Eddie Howe has done with the club since arriving there in 2021. The club are wasting little time this summer, with Newcastle already having been linked with potential arrivals.

It appears, at least according to recent reports, that Newcastle are keen on strengthening their midfield ahead of what will be a busy season.

Mark Douglas of The i Paper has reported that one of Newcastle’s targets this summer is Jacob Ramsey, who has been described as an “unbelievable” player. A product of the Aston Villa youth academy, Ramsey has spent his entire career, excluding loans, at Villa Park, having developed into a key part of the squad under manager Unai Emery.

Newcastle have reportedly been keen on Ramsey for some time, who made just 19 starts in the Premier League last season. The Englishman is comfortable playing either in central midfield or out on the left and such versatility will appeal to Howe, who plays a high-energy brand of football with the Magpies.

Villa are facing issues with Profit and Sustainability Rules and should Ramsey be sold, it would represent pure profit, something that could be vital for the Villans. If Newcastle are able to agree a deal for Ramsey, then they would be signing one of the brightest midfield talents in England who could become a vital member of their squad.
