Japan’s international flight network is expanding significantly with the introduction of several new routes set to begin between September and December 2025. These new services, introduced by both Japanese airlines and international carriers, aim to meet the increasing demand for travel to and from Japan while providing travelers with more direct and convenient travel options.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) Expands International Network
All Nippon Airways (ANA) is launching several new routes as part of its international network expansion. In late 2025, ANA will add more services to Taipei, Hong Kong, and Seoul.
- Kansai–Taipei: Beginning on December 26, 2025, ANA will increase the frequency of flights between Kansai and Taipei to 27 weekly round-trips for the year-end period. This increased frequency reflects the high demand for travel during this time.
- Kansai–Hong Kong: Starting December 24, 2025, ANA will introduce seasonal service between Kansai and Hong Kong. This service will run through January 6, 2026, and will be extended again in February 2026 from February 13 to 20.
- Seoul Incheon: ANA will increase services from both Kansai and Haneda airports to Seoul Incheon starting in late October 2025, helping enhance connectivity between South Korea and Japan.
These routes reflect ANA’s commitment to expanding its offerings and improving connectivity between Japan and some of the most visited international destinations.
Japan Airlines (JAL) Introduces New International Routes
Japan Airlines (JAL) is also set to introduce new international flights, including:
- Narita–Chicago: Starting May 31, 2025, JAL will operate a new route between Tokyo Narita and Chicago O’Hare. The new service is aimed at meeting the growing demand for direct flights between Japan and North America, particularly as more travelers are looking for convenient ways to connect with Southeast Asia, India, and North America.
- Taipei to Naha: The Taipei (Taoyuan) to Naha route, operated by Japan Transocean Air (JTA), will launch as JTA’s first regular international flight in 2025. While the exact start date is still pending, the route is expected to begin within the fiscal year and will increase access between Taiwan and Okinawa, Japan.
Scoot to Launch Singapore-Okinawa Route
Scoot, a Singapore-based low-cost airline, will also launch a new route connecting Singapore to Okinawa, Japan. This service will commence on December 15, 2025, with three weekly flights operated using the Airbus A320 family. The new route aims to cater to the increasing demand for travel between Singapore and Okinawa, a popular destination known for its rich culture and beautiful beaches. The launch of this new service reflects Scoot’s ongoing strategy to expand its network in East Asia.
Greater Bay Airlines Expands to Sapporo
Greater Bay Airlines, a Hong Kong-based carrier, will also begin offering flights between Hong Kong and Sapporo, Japan, starting December 17, 2025. The new route will operate six weekly flights and cater to the growing demand for travel between Hong Kong and Japan. Sapporo, known for its winter attractions and beautiful landscapes, is becoming an increasingly popular destination for travelers from Hong Kong and other regions.
Aero K Introduces Routes to Japan
Aero K, a South Korean low-cost carrier, will introduce new routes to Japan starting in late 2025:
- Cheongju to Okinawa: Aero K will begin operating flights from Cheongju to Okinawa starting October 1, 2025. This new service aims to provide more travel options for South Korean passengers wishing to visit the popular Japanese destination.
- Cheongju to Kitakyushu: Aero K will also introduce flights from Cheongju to Kitakyushu on September 30, 2025. This expansion is part of the airline’s strategy to increase its international network and meet growing demand for travel between South Korea and Japan.
