Napoli are reportedly eyeing a potential deal with Manchester United for former Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund, but have an alternative option in Serie A, as the Partenopei look to strengthen their squad depth and find a replacement for Victor Osimhen ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are planning a mass recruitment drive ahead of next year’s Champions League, for which Antonio Conte’s side are expected to qualify.

Tuesday’s report claims Napoli could bring in up to seven new players during the summer transfer window in order to have two rotation options in every outfield position.

In terms of funds, Victor Osimhen is expected to depart after his Galatasaray loan spell, which could raise €75m if his release clause is activated by a team outside Serie A. There was also a €70m sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Napoli interested in Hojlund and Lucca deals

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, finding a striker to alternate with Romelu Lukaku will be among Napoli’s priorities in the summer transfer window.

One option, according to Tuesday’s reports, is Hojlund from Manchester United. The Pink Paper claims that he could be allowed to depart Old Trafford in the summer, also in order to raise funds for a summer spree.

There will be plenty of negotiating to do, though, as United will reportedly seek a fee in the region of €60m for Hojlund in order to avoid making a capital loss following their €75m purchase from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.

Napoli are aware that they will have to spend upwards of €30m to bring in a striker of their desired quality, which is why Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca remains an option. Valued in the region of €35m-€40m, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Napoli could potentially quadruple his salary if he were to move to the Stadio Maradona.
