There probably won’t be a Motorola Edge 60 Ultra released this year, but this isn’t the end for the flagship smartphone series.
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Motorola Edge 60, and Motorola Edge 60 Fusion are currently supplying a little class to the mid-range smartphone market – but what of the flagship category?
In other words, where’s our follow-up to the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra?
Don’t expect one this year, but keep your eyes peeled for 2026, is what we’re hearing.
Motorola could be skipping 2025
According to reliable tipster Evan Blass (via Android Headlines), the next non-foldable flagship phone from Motorola will probably be the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra.
While “there might not be a Motorola Edge 60 Ultra”, Blass claims that the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra is definitely in the works.
While Blass doesn’t spell this out, it seems likely that Motorola’s Ultra range is skipping 2025 altogether, and won’t hit the market until 2026.
We’re not expecting any naming tricks from Motorola either. It has already launched a ’60 Ultra’ phone in 2025 in the shape of the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, so it almost certainly won’t be skipping ahead to the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra this year.

What to expect from the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra
If the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is anything to go by, the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra should be an interesting phone.
Last year’s Moto flagship came with an entry-level flagship price of £849.99, but made some atypical decisions to try and create something a little more compelling than its rivals.
That included adopting a slightly lesser Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, which placed it behind most of the 2024 flagship crowd on performance. However, this bought Motorola the chance to include a premium design, a sharp 1.5K 144Hz pOLED display, rapid 125W charging, and a well-rounded triple camera system.
I had issues with the phone’s performance and battery life (4,500mAh is pretty tiny by modern standards), but really liked it overall.
If Motorola can make some similarly unorthodox choices in order to hit a competitive price tag, all while addressing some of those concerns, we could be in for a uniquely flavoured 2026 flagship option.
