Milan and Inter ‘unable’ to sign Leoni currently as Premier League teams sniff

There is a slight issue for AC Milan and Inter, currently, as both look to sign Giovanni Leoni from Parma. However, that issue may not affect others.

This summer, both Milan and Inter are looking to buy another defender. However, it is dependent on another leaving before then. In the Rossoneri’s case, three potential players can leave this summer.

Strahinja Pavlovic, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori; each can stay, but if an offer arrives that could open a move for Leoni, things may change. Especially considering how highly rated the Italian defender is at just 18 years old.

Issues and interest

Unfortunately, it is not only Italian clubs that are aware of his talent. As Calciomercato.com relays from Gazzetta dello Sport, there is interest from England arriving. Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are gathering information and could each afford what the club are asking.

Right now, Calciomercato report that to be around the €40 million mark, which the Italian clubs are ‘unable’ to match, without changes in their own team.

It is probable that this figure will only rise with another season starting for Parma too, with new head coach Carlos Cuesta speaking highly of him already. Whether either club will actively pursue him remains to be seen, but a move to England is more feasible as it stands.
