Lewandowski Premier League future hinges on Barcelona contract call

Robert Lewandowski’s time at Barcelona is at crucial juncture with club reportedly weighing whether to trigger a one-year extension on his current deal that expires next summer.

The Polish striker has scored four goals in nine matches this season but reportedly doubt still persist over his ability to sustain the relentless intensity required in Hansi Flick’s pressing system.

Barcelona’s structure depends heavily on attacking players dictating play in the opposition half, and at 37 years old Lewandowski faces growing questions about whether he can still lead that line at the highest level.

Club reportedly is considering a transition phase one that may prioritize younger forwards capable of adapting to the team’s evolving style.

Lewandowski’s future has drawn interest from across Europe as his representatives explore options for 2025.

The forward, who has played more than 650 senior club matches and scored over 500 goals in his career reportedly remains focused on continuing in Europe for at least one more season.

His agent Pini Zahavi reportedly recently met AC Milan officials to discuss the striker’s situation.

Lewandowski is also expected to turn down renewed approaches from Saudi Arabia, choosing instead to pursue a final stint at a club competing in the Champions League.

Man United could are big admirer of Lewandowski

According to Daily Star, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could see Lewandowski as a short-term solution to strengthen the attack.

The Portuguese coach has already strengthened his frontline with Benjamin Sesko’s £74m [$98m] arrival from RB Leipzig but adding a proven finisher of Lewandowski’s calibre would bring the veteran experience that United’s promising but youthful attack still lacks.

United has reportedly been a decade-long admiration for the Polish star that dates back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s pursuit of the then-Borussia Dortmund striker in 2012.

That move never materialized as Dortmund resisted United’s offer and Lewandowski later joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer where he became one of Europe’s most prolific scorers.
