Indie App Spotlight: ‘Bookovery’ is a discovery tool to find your next great read

Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.

If you’re looking for a great app to help find you a new book, Bookovery is an awesome choice. It has a comprehensive book recommendation algorithm, helping you find the next read you’ll fall in love with. It also allows you to track your reads and organize your collection.

Top features

Bookovery has a Tinder-style recommendation interface, allowing you to quickly swipe left or right on what books do and don’t look and sound appealing to you. In this interface, you see the book cover, a short summary, how many pages it contains, and the genres. During onboarding, you select your favorite genres, giving the algorithm something to work with – and it learns from you as you go on.

Outside of the recommendation feed, the app also offers a bookshelf, allowing you to organize your reads – whether that be something you’ve already read or something you’d like to read. It also keeps track of which books you disliked.

There’s also a community rating system, so you can see how other Bookovery users feel about a particular book.

Download Bookovery

Bookovery is available for free on the App Store for iPhones running iOS 17 and later. You’ll need Bookovery Unlimited for the full voting experience, which’ll run $3.99/mo or $24.99/year. Otherwise, you’re limited to just 30 ratings.

There’s also a Bookovery Unlimited lifetime option for $34.99.
