Defense Minister Israel Katz said Sunday morning that he takes leaks coming from the closed security forum very seriously, as they “harm Israel’s securty and give a distorted impression regarding the IDF’s activities in Gaza.”
Katz added that the leaks “weaken the hand of our soldiers and give false hope to our enemies.
“The prime minister and I, in accordance with what we were authorized to do by the security cabinet, approved the IDF’s plans in Gaza and [we] also praised them.”
Former IDF Military Intelligence Directorate chief’s comments last week
Katz made these statements days after leaked recordings were released Friday night of former IDF Military Intelligence Directorate chief Aharon Haliva for a second time on Channel 12, where he said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ignored warnings to better prepare for the possibility of war before October 7 occurred, and had no interest in listening to intelligence assessments.
“It is not for the head of the Intelligence Directorate to decide whether he would meet with the prime minister,” he said.

The first leak of recordings of Haliva heard him saying that, “For every person that died on October 7, 50 Palestinians need to die. It does not matter now if they are children. I am not speaking from revenge. I am speaking to future generations. They need a Nakba from time to time to feel the price.”
