Hong Kong Tourism Board Hosts Exclusive Dining Events In Canada This Summer

Saturday, July 5, 2025

This summer, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is putting the global spotlight on Hong Kong and Canada’s dynamic culinary connection. Through a series of cross-cultural collaborative culinary events, the HKTB is cultivating cultural exchange, mentoring, and excellence in Michelin-starred cuisine. Blending Hong Kong’s culinary creativity with the innovative zest of Canadian chefs, these events are also generating buzz for the eagerly awaited Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2025, scheduled to happen in October. As Hong Kong solidifies itself as one of the world’s leading global destinations for gastronomes, the HKTB is looking to amplify culinary tourism and reveal further gastronomic gems waiting to be explored in this cosmopolitan city.

Promoting Cultural Exchange Through Culinary Innovation

Food has long been recognized as a powerful tool for cultural connection, and this summer, the Hong Kong Tourism Board is leveraging it to strengthen ties between Hong Kong and Canada. The board’s initiatives celebrate shared culinary talent while encouraging a deeper appreciation for diverse culinary traditions. According to Jorge Lee, Senior Manager for Marketing & Public Relations at the Hong Kong Tourism Board of Canada, these collaborations represent the rich cultural and culinary ties between the two regions.

Lee further stated, “Food is one of the most powerful ways to connect cultures—and this summer, we’re proud to showcase the culinary creativity that links Hong Kong and Canada. These chef collaborations highlight the shared talent and deep ties between our two regions and invite Canadians to discover the world-class dining experiences waiting for them in Hong Kong.”

Summerlicious Collaboration: A Night of Culinary Mastery with Hong Kong’s Finest Chefs

As part of Summerlicious 2025, the HKTB has planned an exciting one-night-only event dubbed “Hong Kong Night.” Set for July 20, 2025, this event will bring together three culinary maestros from Hong Kong and Canada. Michelin-starred Chef Alvin Leung (Bo Innovation, Café Bau, Hong Kong), Chef Kasey Chan (Café Bau, Hong Kong), and Chef Nick Liu (DaiLo, Toronto) will collaborate to create a unique fusion of East-meets-West cuisine.

This culinary trio will rejoin forces after their successful partnership during Hong Kong’s 2024 Taste Around Town. The collaboration promises an inventive menu that channels Hong Kong’s bold culinary spirit while embracing the rich food culture of Canada. The event is expected to showcase an exciting array of flavors that combine traditional Cantonese ingredients with modern Canadian innovations. Tickets for this exclusive event can be purchased at the Dailoto Official Website.

Summerlicious Travel Giveaway: Win a Trip to Hong Kong

To further celebrate the cultural and culinary exchange, HKTB is giving Toronto residents a chance to experience Hong Kong firsthand through the Summerlicious Travel Giveaway. Running from July 4 to 20, 2025, this contest will allow diners at participating Summerlicious restaurants to enter for a chance to win a grand prize. The prize includes two premium economy round-trip tickets with Cathay Pacific, four nights at a four-star hotel, and two all-access 3-day Hong Kong attraction passes. The lucky winners will also receive VIP tickets to the 2025 Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, held from October 23-26, 2025.

The giveaway serves as an exciting prelude to the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, where visitors can explore an array of culinary experiences that highlight Hong Kong’s status as a global dining hub. This initiative provides Toronto’s food enthusiasts with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant food scene of one of Asia’s most dynamic culinary capitals.

Visa Infinite Dining Series: An Evening of Mentorship and Culinary Excellence

Continuing the celebration of Hong Kong-Canada culinary ties, the HKTB is proud to present the Visa Infinite Dining Series at Langdon Hall in Cambridge. On July 25, 2025, acclaimed Chef Vicky Cheng (Wing and VEA, Hong Kong) will reunite with his Canadian mentor, Chef Jason Bangerter, for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Chef Cheng, who trained under Bangerter in Toronto, now leads two of Hong Kong’s top restaurants and will return to Canada to cook alongside his former teacher.

This exclusive event is a true testament to the power of mentorship in the culinary world. It will provide an exceptional opportunity for guests to witness the blending of techniques, flavors, and philosophies from two culinary traditions. Chef Cheng and Chef Bangerter’s collaboration is expected to be a masterclass in innovation and international culinary cooperation, offering guests an unforgettable evening of fine dining. Tickets for this event will be available for purchase on VisaInfinite.ca starting July 3, 2025.

Looking Forward to Hong Kong’s Culinary Future

The culinary collaboration events in Canada are just a glimpse of what’s to come in Hong Kong’s ever-evolving food scene. As the city prepares for the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival in October, there is a growing excitement for the food experiences that await tourists. The HKTB’s efforts to highlight Hong Kong’s gastronomic offerings through these culinary collaborations are an essential part of the city’s broader strategy to position itself as a global food capital.

The upcoming festival will bring together food enthusiasts from around the world to sample some of the best dishes Hong Kong has to offer. The HKTB hopes that these collaborations, along with the festival, will inspire travelers to visit Hong Kong and experience its incredible food scene for themselves.

Conclusion: A Tasty Cultural Journey Across Continents

Through our culinary events, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has successfully bridged closer cultural similarities between Hong Kong and Canada. Such events not only celebrate the art of cuisine but also honor the importance of mentoring, team cooperation, and the powerful unifying force of cuisine to bring cultures together. Towards the 2025 Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival and beyond, Hong Kong’s culinary culture will further delight and inspire gourmands around the world.
