Hong Kong temperatures fall to 18.4 degrees Celsius, lowest so far this autumn

Hong Kong recorded a minimum temperature of 18.4 degrees Celsius (65 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday, the lowest this autumn so far, according to the weather forecaster.

The chilly morning was caused by an intense northeast monsoon, while the outer rainbands of Severe Tropical Storm Fengshen continued to bring scattered showers to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea.

“Up to 8.40am, the minimum temperature recorded at the Observatory was 18.4 degrees, the lowest so far this autumn,” the forecaster said on Wednesday.

The mercury dipped to as low as 10.5 degrees in Tai Mo Shan and 13.3 degrees in Ngong Ping in Lantau Island and Tate’s Cairn.

The intense northeast monsoon will continue to affect the coast of southern China on Thursday, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 25 degrees and bright periods.
