HK Jockey Club sponsors HK$450 million for upcoming National Games in Hong Kong

26th June 2025 – (Hong Kong) The National Games Coordination Office (Hong Kong) (NGCO) announced today (26 June) that the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) will provide HK$450 million in sponsorship for the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD), and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) in the Hong Kong competition region. With this commitment, the HKJC will serve as the exclusive “Partner Sponsor” for these significant events.

A signing ceremony to formalise the HKJC’s support took place at the Central Government Offices, attended by Chief Executive Mr John Lee, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Miss Rosanna Law, and HKJC Chief Executive Officer Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.

During the ceremony, Miss Law highlighted the importance of successfully hosting the 15th NG, 12th NGD, and 9th NSOG this year. She stated that the HKJC’s generous sponsorship would greatly enhance event preparations in Hong Kong, particularly in promoting volunteer programmes, community and school activities, and initiatives to enable underprivileged groups and youth to attend as spectators. She expressed gratitude for the HKJC’s contribution and reaffirmed Hong Kong’s dedication to co-hosting a seamless and enjoyable Games with Guangdong and Macao.

Other notable attendees included HKJC Chairman Mr Michael Lee, Deputy Director-General of the Coordination Department for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Mr Zhang Zhihua, Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Ms Vivian Sum, and Head of the NGCO Mr Yeung Tak-keung.

The HKJC has a history of supporting major sports events in the region, including the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, and the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. For this year’s National Games, the HKJC will not only provide financial backing but will also deploy around 100 volunteers to assist in various areas during the events in Hong Kong.
