Here Are the Celebrities Who Have Spoken Out Against Trump’s ICE Raids

Celebrities are taking a stand against the Trump administration’s aggressive mass deportations led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after an uptick in raids in Los Angeles led to nationwide protests.

For two days last weekend, Los Angeles residents flooded the streets for largely peaceful protests in response to immigration authorities forcefully taking people into custody. Despite local officials reporting that the Los Angeles Police Department had the demonstrations under control, President Trump used a special provision to deploy the National Guard and the Marines to the city to quell the protesters. But on Monday, June 9, California Gov. Gavin Newsom sued Trump and the Department of Defense to “end the illegal and unnecessary takeover of a CalGuard unit.” The National Guard is typically only deployed by state governors, but a president can override that authority if “there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.”

“Donald Trump is creating fear and terror by failing to adhere to the U.S. Constitution and overstepping his authority,” Newsom said in a statement. “This is a manufactured crisis to allow him to take over a state militia, damaging the very foundation of our republic.”

The state of unrest in Los Angeles, which is home to a large population of immigrants, comes as Trump’s large-scale deportation tactics have included disappearing students, sending asylum-seekers to detention centers in foreign countries, and wrongfully deporting U.S. citizens. Social media has become flooded with criticism of the Trump administration and calls for legal action against unlawful deportation practices. During this time, many celebrities have begun speaking out against the ICE raids. Here is what they have said:
