Full list of websites and apps affected as outage wipes out ‘half the internet’

Users around the world have been left frantically refreshing apps on their phone this morning (20 October), and it’s all part of an internet outage.

If you’ve been wondering why messages haven’t been sending, or why that 9am team video call catch-up isn’t loading you in as it should, you’re not alone.

A number of major websites and apps have stopped working, with the likes of Amazon, Canva, HMRC and Snapchat making headlines.

The Downdetector website has revealed all the major sites which are currently affected, which is likely impacting your internet and social media usage.

It’s said that the issue is coming from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provides the servers and infrastructure for a chunk of the internet as we know it today.

This does unfortunately mean that any faults or issues with AWS’ platform can affect thousands of websites.
