Former NFL Player Slams Tim Walz After Death Of Minnesota Lawmaker: ‘Weak, Emasculated Leader’

Jack Brewer, a former NFL player who spent four seasons in the league, playing for teams like the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Arizona Cardinals, recently criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz after a lawmaker and her husband were murdered in their home on June 14, 2025.

Governor Walz opened up about the shootings that day during a press conference, condemning the attacks as an “act of targeted political violence.”

In a new interview, Brewer wasted no time letting the people of Minnesota know that he believes Tim Walz is to blame for the tragic deaths, adding that the politician has allowed the state to become “the capital of chaos.”

Speaking with Fox News, Brewer, who also played football for the University of Minnesota, expressed his disappointment in what he says his home state has become.

“We need to start calling this what it is,” Brewer told the publication. “These people have lost their minds. I am heartbroken to see one of the most amazing states in America completely turned around under Gov. Tim Walz. Minnesota is confused.”

The 46-year-old, who also spoke at the Republican National Convention and served on President Donald Trump‘s administration during his first term, added that seeing Minnesota’s current state of affairs “hurts” him.

“I played for the Vikings,” he continued. “I played for the Gophers. [I’ve lived] in Minnesota for years. It was not like this. People were respectful. People could disagree and still have conversations. I still have a lot of family there, and it hurts to see what they’re living through.”

Brewer Says Tim Walz Has Allowed The State To Become ‘The Capital Of Chaos’

Brewer didn’t end there. The former NFL safety continued, saying the state of Minnesota has become “the capital of chaos” and placed the blame squarely on Walz’s shoulders.

“That’s not right. It’s not a reflection of the true people of Minnesota,” he said. “There are a lot of good people there. But the liberal hub around Minneapolis and St. Paul has taken over, and it’s dangerous. Tim Walz is the leader of that. His attorney general, Keith Ellison, is right there with him.”

The father of four shared his hopes for Minnesota before taking more personal shots at Governor Walz.

“On this Father’s Day, I wish Minnesota would focus on restoring fatherhood — protecting women, protecting families,” he stated. “Tim Walz is the example of a weak, emasculated leader. This is not what God made fathers to be. It’s pathetic.

Brewer Doesn’t Hold Back, Adding, ‘The Root Cause Of All Of This Is Evil’

According to Brewer, “The root cause of all of this is evil.”

He mentioned the conflict that stems from the political divide, condemning the “riots” and “protests” as “too far.”

“The Democrats have gone so far left that if you’re not a raging liberal, you’re under attack. They are forcing everyone in the party to conform,” he continued.

“Whenever you give Satan power, he shows his face,” he added. “That’s what we’re witnessing now.”

Tim Walz Calls The Killing Of Speaker Melissa Hortman And Her Husband A ‘Politically Motivated Assassination’

During a press conference on June 14, Walz, 61, began by calling the killing of Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, a “politically motivated assassination.”

According to an earlier report from The Blast, law enforcement officials revealed that they believed the suspect, now identified as Vance Luther Boelter, 57, used a fake police car in the killings. “When we did a search of the vehicle, there was a manifesto that identified many lawmakers and other officials. We immediately made alerts to the state. We took action on alerting them and providing security where necessary,” Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said.

Walz also addressed the shooting of Sen. John Hoffman, another Minnesota lawmaker, and his spouse, who was shot approximately 90 minutes before the Hortmans and taken to a local hospital to undergo surgery.

“We are cautiously optimistic they will survive this assassination attempt,” the governor said, adding that “this was an act of targeted political violence.”

Walz Shares An Emotional Message About His Former Colleague

Governor Walz also shared an emotional message about Speaker Hortman, calling her a “formidable public servant.”

“She woke up every day determined to make this state a better place. She is irreplaceable and will be missed by so many,” he said. “Minnesota’s thoughts and prayers are with her family, her loved ones, her children and her parents.”
