Farm Defaults on $1.3 Million Loan Before Steve Sr.’s Sentencing

There’s more trouble for Steve McBee Sr. and the family farm. The star of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys defaulted on a $1.3 million loan. It was just weeks before his sentencing in his multimillion-dollar fraud trial. It’s not a good look, and we’ve got the details on his latest financial blunder.

An FBI investigation brought down McBee Dynasty’s Steve McBee Sr.

Throughout the first two seasons of the McBee Dynasty, Steve and his family have gone on and on about how they could lose the family business due to their dire financial situation. In Season 2, we learned that the family farm had about $70 million in debt.

Meanwhile, the FBI investigated the business and found that Steve submitted false insurance claims, grossly underreporting his crop yields. He wound up getting massive payouts from his insurance claims that he didn’t actually deserve. The scheme cost the United States government $4,022,123 in losses.

During that time, Steve also took out a $1.3 million loan with Rabo Agrifinance LLC, according to reporting from Progressive Farmer/DTN. On August 13, 2025, Rabo Agrifinance filed a notice of default, indicating that Steve and the McBees hadn’t been paying towards the loan.

The notice read, “The judgment was entered against the defendants McBee Family Farms and Steven Arthur McBee, in the principal sum of $1,171,000.00, and accrued interest through June 23, 2025, totaled $133,995.98, and the costs of the original action were taxed at $0.00. Interest continues to accrue at a per-diem rate of $683.08 from and after Judgement Date, plus all future costs and expenses of collection.”

It’s unclear how Steve can pay back the loan when he’s already on the hook for paying restitution to the government. As part of his guilty plea, he’s required to pay $3.2 million in restitution. The feds have already demanded the forfeiture of some property, including three luxury watches.

While Steve navigates his legal woes, Steven McBee Jr. has taken over the family farm. He plans on leveraging their newfound reality TV fame to transform it into a tourist destination. After all, the debt isn’t going to pay itself.

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys is streaming on Peacock or Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MCBEE’S MONEY TROUBLES? DO YOU THINK THERE’S A CHANCE THEY COULD LOSE THE FARM?
