One esthetician shared the wacky reason she feels optimistic about her job security.

Stephanie Stanton, a licensed esthetician, shared a video on TikTok explaining that she feels secure in her career because “AI can’t wax butt*les.” The short clip, posted on June 24, has since garnered over a million views on the platform.

The video shows Stanton dipping a wooden stick in a pot of wax while looking at the camera. She twirls the hot substance on the stick before making a cheeky face and walking away.

“Job security is knowing AI can’t wax butt*les,” the esthetician wrote on the video.

She reemphasized the text in her caption, writing, “I’m safe? I guess?”

The hilarious clip has received hundreds of comments from people relating to the sentiment amid the recent increase in the usage of artificial intelligence technology.

“I’m a piercer,” wrote one person. “Hopefully AI doesn’t start doing piercings!”

“The jobs I wish a robot could do are the ones they can’t,” expressed another person.

A third commenter warned that AI has already been making progress in the cosmetic industry. “Not yet but we’ve all seen the nail bot so they [are] getting close,” they wrote.

Another person agreed, writing, “As someone who works in automation, I can 100% guarantee you it’s a matter of time.”

Stanton was active in the comments section and even answered questions about the industry from some people.

When asked about how many people she waxes per day, she wrote, “It’s different each day because I do other treatments but I’ve had as many as 6-10 in one day usually right before a holiday.”

The esthetician shared another video on July 1, in which she said she received a business referral from the popular generative artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.

“So apparently, we just got our first referral from ChatGPT,” she says from her workplace.

“I, for one, welcome our robot overlords,” Stanton jokes.

“Thanks Chat,” she wrote in the caption. “And you can’t even Google without it automatically utilizing AI.”

According to Stanton’s TikTok profile, she offers “science-driven, result-oriented care tailored to your unique skin needs.”

The esthetician is the manager at Smoothe in Raleigh, N.C.

Per the company website, Stanton has been a licensed esthetician for 10 years and also has experience as a freelance makeup artist.
