De Cuyper to Brighton, as Milan, Roma and Atalanta miss out

Milan, Roma and Atalanta have been tracking Maxim De Cuyper for months, but the Club Brugge left-back is heading to Brighton and Hove Albion for a reported €20m.

The Belgium international had been a regular on the transfer news pages of the Italian media over the last year, primarily for his links with Milan, but more recently Roma and Atalanta had also set their sights on him.

All three Serie A sides look as if they are going to miss out, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting he is travelling to England today for a medical test with Brighton.

The Premier League club seemingly got a deal over the line with Club Brugge for €20m plus performance-related bonuses.

It would be the second left-back target that Milan missed out on, as they also saw Genoa teenager Honest Ahanor complete his transfer to Atalanta today.

De Cuyper is 24 years old and a product of the Club Brugge youth academy, who has three goals in 10 senior caps for Belgium.
