David and Yildiz: ‘Juventus everything I had hoped for’

Jonathan David admits scoring on his Juventus debut is ‘everything I hoped for’ coming to Turin, while Kenan Yildiz assures it is too early to ‘think about the Scudetto right now.’

The Canada international made history by becoming the first CANMNT player to score in the Juventus jersey, opening the scoring in this evening’s 2-0 Serie A victory over Parma.

“It’s everything I hoped for. It was a professional decision,” David told DAZN Italia of joining the Bianconeri as a free agent this summer.

Juve took a while to break Parma down, but after his goal, Andrea Cambiaso was sent off for a reaction foul on Mathias Lovik, followed by a strike from substitute Dusan Vlahovic.

“The fans brought an amazing atmosphere, you could feel them pushing us, both before the goal, then after the red card,” added David.

“I am happy to score in my first game, but the most important thing is the three points.”

The striker has scored at least 15 goals in each of his last four seasons at club level, so is that the target for his debut Juventus campaign too?

“The target is to help the team as much as I can. If it’s by scoring goals, providing assists, running back, defending, I will do everything,” insisted David.

Kenan Yildiz was named Serie A Man of the Match, as he provided the assists for both David and Vlahovic in the 2-0 victory.

“We played a great game against a strong opponent. I am happy for the players, we did well this week and we hope to continue like this after three points,” noted the Turkish talent, who this season has started giving interviews in Italian.

“Jonathan David is a very strong player, we already saw what he could do with Lille and I am very happy to be playing alongside him.”

Juventus have started the campaign with a win, but few put them among the favourites for the Serie A title.

“We are at the start of the season, we have to take it one game at a time. We are not thinking about the Scudetto right now.”
