Hundreds of Cristiano Ronaldo fans lined up in Hong Kong on Monday for a chance to see the football icon’s trophies, jerseys, and life-sized statues at the grand opening of a new exhibition dedicated to the global superstar.
Billed as the first of its kind outside Portugal, the “CR7 LIFE Museum Hong Kong” debuted at a luxury shopping mall, drawing enthusiastic crowds eager to get a glimpse of Ronaldo’s legacy.
Visitors posed for photos alongside realistic statues of Ronaldo, including one capturing his signature mid-air goal celebration and another dressed in traditional Saudi attire, reflecting his current stint in the Middle East.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is my idol… he’s special,” said 14-year-old Alvin Lai, who arrived early and was first in a line of over 100 people.
“He’s the most hardworking person out there,” added university student Henry Singh. “He’s 40 years old and still going very strong.”
Ronaldo’s Journey Continues
Ronaldo recently extended his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr for another two years, calling it a “new chapter” in an Instagram post. The club is set to play in a pre-season tournament in Hong Kong next month, further fueling local excitement.
The museum’s 12,000-square-foot (1,110-square-metre) space celebrates Ronaldo’s storied career and personal brand. Tomas Froes, a representative of Ronaldo’s family office, told AFP the exhibition is meant to inspire.
“It sends a strong message for everyone to achieve their dreams,” Froes said, adding that Ronaldo himself is expected to greet fans at the museum “very soon.”
Organisers announced the Hong Kong exhibition will run for one year before traveling to mainland China, extending the reach of Ronaldo’s influence across Asia.
