Costco guests know they need their heads on a swivel at all times. For overly aggressive shoppers with overloaded carts? No. (Well, yes, but not always.) Instead, you need to keep your head and eyes moving at all times to spot all the new arrivals that will sneak past you if you’re not attentive. They’re everywhere!
That’s almost what happened to me during my last trip to Costco. I was walking through the prepared foods section, eyeing the classic shrimp salad and taco kits. But there, in a spot typically reserved for ready-to-bake pasta dishes, sat chicken and waffles. It’s my job to report on the new and returning products at restaurants and stores like Costco, but on a personal level, this was a thrilling find.
Why The Brunch Meal Caught My Attention
The packaged brunch meal includes enough to easily feed four folks, with four pieces of fried chicken (more on that in a second), four thick waffles, a cup of maple syrup, and two packs of hot honey.

The chicken pieces were a bit of a mystery to me, as it was clear without opening the box they weren’t your typical fried chicken breasts. Instead, as I discovered once I was able to take one apart, they all seem to be boneless chicken thighs (that’s dark meat), which as anyone knows, will reheat better than white meat chicken any day. They’ve been flattened slightly, too, to make them easier to reheat evenly.
Speaking of reheating. If you think, as it seems many people on social media and forums like Reddit do, that this can’t possibly be good if it’s not fresh, then you’ve never reheated anything in an air fryer. I popped a piece of the chicken and a waffle into my countertop appliance, selected reheat, and five minutes later, the most perfect piece of moist and tender chicken was warmed through, and the waffle had regained its crisp crust with fluffy interior.
Why It’s A Great Deal
The chicken and waffles at our suburban Birmingham, Alabama, warehouse are priced at $6.99 a pound, so the entire meal was just over $16. That’s a steal compared to our popular local brunch spots, which charge about the same price for just one meal.
As with many things at Costco, it seems the chicken and waffles have not rolled out nationwide, with only select stores having this in their ready-to-eat section. But if you find it, it’s worth trying when you want a rich and comforting brunch but seriously don’t want to wait in any lines.
