At a reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine, Ma Shengkun, reaffirmed China’s commitment to efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, according to an Ukrinform correspondent on September 30.
Ma expressed “full understanding of the challenges that the Ukrainian people are facing today,” citing that “China has consistently maintained an objective and fair position, actively calling for peaceful negotiations and promoting a political settlement.”
China, Ma stated, is committed to working with the international community to help secure a ceasefire and a fair, lasting peace agreement.

According to Ukrinform, he further highlighted the strong strategic partnership between Ukraine and China, which has been built on mutual respect and benefit over 33 years of diplomatic relations.
“China remains Ukraine’s largest trading partner. The economies of China and Ukraine complement each other perfectly,” Ma said.
He concluded by stressing China’s readiness to expand cooperation with Ukraine for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Notably, Ma avoided mentioning Russia as the aggressor in the war or directly addressing the war itself, referring instead to the “challenges” Ukraine is facing, according to Ukrinform.
Previously, it was reported that China’s Qingdao Port will impose new restrictions on older and high-risk tankers, a move widely seen as targeting vessels carrying sanctioned oil from Russia, Iran and other sensitive suppliers.
