Celebrity Halloween Costumes That Were So Bad It’s Scary

Every year, when October comes around, fans can’t wait to see what Halloween costumes their favorite celebs get decked out in. One of the queens of spooky season is Heidi Klum, known for her elaborate get-ups that either have us gasping in delight or covering our eyes in horror. Sometimes stars get it right, but inappropriate celeb Halloween costumes will always haunt them. Costumes that cross the lines of cultural appropriation and poke fun at a tragic moment are never okay, but we’re all for a fun, lighthearted All Hallows Eve moment.

Over the years, celebs have gotten super creative with their Halloween costumes, so much so that they bordered on the macabre. And then there are famous faces that put such minimal effort into their looks that we’re asking ourselves why they even bothered. We get that costumes can’t always be winners, but these were so bad that they’ll go down in history as the worst celebrity Halloween looks ever.

The Today folks as the Peanuts will always haunt us

The Peanuts are such a fond memory for many of us — that is, until the “Today” show had to ruin it. In 2015, the anchors dressed up as the lovable characters invented by Charles M. Schulz, but someone had the not-so-great idea to turn them into nightmarish versions. For one, Carson Daly, who depicted Linus, had a bald cap with awful clay swirls. And we can’t even look at the prosthetic ears on the side of his head without turning away in horror. Al Roker’s Charlie Brown getup was even more frightening, and we’re sending our therapy bills to the producers of “Today.”

Hugh Grant made the least effort possible with his lion onesie

If Hugh Grant spent as much effort on his 2015 Halloween costume as he does playing affable, self-deprecating characters in movies, he would have won an award. Sadly, it looked like he dredged up an old lion onesie from a dusty bin and just called it a day. We’re not sure what look Grant was going for, but it certainly wasn’t king of the jungle. Even his ears had a sad showing, and one looked like it was desperately trying to flee in embarrassment.

Kyle MacLachlan needed help from the wardrobe department

As an actor, Kyle MacLachlan knows that being in character means looking as authentic as possible, but he dropped the ball at Heidi Klum’s 2006 Halloween bash. The “Desperate Housewives” star came dressed in a pirate outfit that looked straight out of Party City, complete with a felt hat and a cheap-looking velvet shirt. Perhaps the store was out of pants his size, as MacLachlan had on a pair of striped pajamas, but surely, he could have called somebody from the wardrobe department for help. This outfit arrrgh-uably should have walked the plank.

Mel B’s Victoria Beckham costume fell flat

In a playful, yet shady dig at her former Spice Girls bandmate, Mel B dressed up as Victoria Beckham, who had a gorgeous transformation, in 2018. The low-effort costume consisted of a paper printout of the fashion designer and a sign with the words, “No, I am not going on tour.” Meanwhile, her date was dressed as David Beckham, who carried a sign that said, “Please, please, please, do it for the Spice fans.” If Scary Spice thought the ‘fit was going to convince Victoria to join the group again, it definitely didn’t work.

The time Perez Hilton decided to dress up as a vampire Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has had some hair looks that had us cringing, like the time she sported two micro buns for her 2013 VMA Awards performance. That same year, Perez Hilton copied her look for Halloween, and his portrayal of Cyrus during her “Bangerz” era was also super cringe-worthy. From the latex bikini set to the foam finger, the gossip blogger looked ridiculous cosplaying as a 21-year-old. We’re also not sure why he decided to add vampire fangs to the look. The whole costume was just a wrecking ball.

Jason Biggs did not make a cute Dorothy

Countless people have dressed up as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” on Halloween over the years — it is an iconic look, after all. However, none have done it as poorly as Jason Biggs in 2005. The “American Pie” star’s ill-fitting wig looked like it was made out of twine, and the black shade was completely off. Biggs also opted to wear red sneakers instead of the ruby heels Dorothy wears on her way to Oz, but at least he got the plaid dress and white blouse right.

Matt Lauer’s Paris Hilton costume was not hot

The “Today” show folks always turn it up for Halloween, and former host Matt Lauer loved a good drag moment. In 2004, he channeled his inner heiress and came dressed as Paris Hilton circa her “Simple Life” era. Wearing a long blond wig, a red top, a low-rise denim skirt, and a pink jacket, Lauer strutted his stuff in a pair of pink sandals. While we get that Hilton’s signature style was big during the Y2K era, seeing Lauer in stockings and a crop top had us running for the hills.

Larry David’s conjoined twin costume had us curbing our enthusiasm

Larry David is known for his inappropriate humor, but he took things a bit too far when he seemingly poked fun at those who were born as conjoined twins. In 2013, he and a friend celebrated Halloween by sharing an oversized t-shirt and cardigan in an attempt to look fused together. Not only was this costume offensive to actual conjoined twins, but it also looked like it was put together at the last minute. We’re not sure how we’d feel being tethered to another person all night, but judging from David and his friend’s smiles, they didn’t mind at all.

Patti Harrison’s Michael Jackson costume was tasteless

Michael Jackson was known for his iconic looks, and many have recreated them for Halloween, including actor Patti Harrison. However, out of all the outfits she could have chosen, she decided on the one Jackson was wearing when he dangled his infant son Blanket over a balcony in 2002. Harrison even held a baby doll with its head covered in a white cloth, just as Jackson did decades ago. While we give her props for her makeup, the “Poker Face” star should have opted for a less controversial Jackson moment.

Luann de Lesseps made jaws drop with her tone-deaf Diana Ross look

The Season 10 premiere of “The Real Housewives of New York City” featured a Halloween bash thrown by Dorinda Medley. The stars came dressed as their favorite pop culture icons, but Luann de Lesseps decided it would be a good idea to show up as Diana Ross in a huge afro and what looked like subtle Blackface. It seemed as if de Lesseps had no idea her costume was tone-deaf, and she even tried to convince the other Housewives to go to a karaoke bar. Hopefully, she didn’t attempt to sing any Ross songs while dressed in that offensive costume

From illusion to real peace: Trump’s test in Gaza and Ukraine | Donald Trump

United States President Donald Trump styles himself as a peacemaker. In his rhetoric, he claims credit for his efforts to end the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. Yet beneath the grandstanding lies an absence of substance, at least to date. The problem is not Trump’s lack of effort, but his lack of proper concepts. Trump
