Brentford eye manager of Premier League club as potential Thomas Frank replacement

Brentford could poach their next manager from a Premier League rival.

Confirmation of incumbent Bees boss Thomas Frank‘s appointment at Tottenham appears imminent, as talkSPORT understands the clubs have reached an agreement over the Dane.

With Frank poised to depart, it means the Bees will be on the lookout for a new manager for the first time in eight-and-a-half years.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, the Bees have drawn up a three-man shortlist for Frank’s replacement.

Romano reports one of those options is Burnley boss Scott Parker.

However, Romano adds Parker remains ‘happy’ at Burnley and Brentford are only in the exploratory stages of any potential swoop.

talkSPORT understands that Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is being eyed by the Bees.

An appointment of Parker would be sure to stir controversy in Brentford quarters.

That’s because the 44-year-old made over 120 appearances and managed 105 games for Fulham, who are one of the Bees’ biggest rivals.

One of those 105 games was the 2019/20 Championship play-off final when Parker led the Cottagers to a 2-1 win over Brentford in extra time.

Parker has proven himself to be a highly capable manager in the Championship having got three different teams promoted.

The former England and Tottenham midfielder guided Bournemouth to second place in the Championship during the 2021/22 campaign which secured automatic promotion.

He did the same in the 2024/25 season with Burnley, who finished second only on goal difference behind champions Leeds United.

Under Parker, the Clarets showed a remarkable resolve at the back as they shipped just 16 league goals across the 46-game campaign.

To underscore Burnley’s defensive stinginess, Leeds conceded the second-fewest with 30.

But as good as Parker has been as a Championship manager, he is yet to fully convince in the Premier League.

Parker oversaw an instant return to the Championship for Fulham as they finished the 2020/21 campaign in 18th, 11 points away from safety.

In fact, Fulham spent just four weeks outside the relegation zone across the entire season.

Parker was booted out as Bournemouth boss just four games into the 2022/23 Premier League season, with the axe falling after a 9-0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool.

Following the match, Parker claimed the team had not spent enough in the summer.

But his replacement, Gary O’Neil, came in and steered the Cherries to safety as they finished five points clear of the relegation zone.

Parker also endured a torrid 12-game stint in charge of Belgian side Club Brugge between December 2022 and March 2023, winning just twice before being sacked.

The 44-year-old will now hope to avoid a similar scenario at Burnley.

However, the fact all three promoted sides from the last two Premier League seasons have endured an instant return to the Championship does not bode well for Parker’s hopes of keeping Burnley afloat in the English top flight.
