Biden Sexual Misconduct Accuser Granted Russian Citizenship

Russian President Vladimir Putin has granted citizenship to Tara Reade, a former aide to Joe Biden while he served as a Senator who accused him of sexual misconduct during the 2020 US presidential race. The decree granting approval was published by Russia’s RBC news agency on Monday. Sept. 22.

Reade worked in Biden’s Senate office in the early 1990s. During Biden’s campaign for the White House, she alleged that he sexually assaulted her while working there. According to her account he put his hand under her skirt and committed sexual acts in the hallway of the US Senate.

Biden’s campaign denied the allegations, and in a 2020 interview with MSNBC, Biden himself said he could “unequivocally say it never, never happened.”

Reade moved to Russia in 2023, saying she did not feel safe in the United States. She claimed that she had received threats after repeatedly accusing Biden of harassment after he announced his bid for a second term as president.

After moving to Moscow, she voiced opposition to US support for Ukraine and announced she would seek Russian citizenship. Since her relocation, she has appeared on the Kremlin-backed Russia Today (RT) network.

In February 2024, American journalist Tucker Carlson traveled to Moscow and interviewed Reade about her decision to remain in Russia.

Under Russian law, foreigners seeking citizenship typically must reside in the country for five years. But since launching the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Putin has eased the rules, allowing foreigners and stateless persons to apply on “moral grounds” and offering a fast track to those who sign military service contracts with the Russian Armed Forces or affiliated units.
