Barcelona consider surprise move for La Liga forward with release clause less than €10 million

According to SPORT, FC Barcelona are studying the possibility of making a significant move in the transfer market by paying the release clause of Etta Eyong, the Cameroonian forward from Villarreal who has emerged as one of the revelations of the season in La Liga.

At just 20 years of age, Eyong has stood out as a powerful and direct attacker with a strong scoring instinct, catching the Blaugrana’s attention.

A very affordable release Clause

The key factor in this situation is his contract. Despite his clear potential, Etta Eyong has a release clause of under €10 million, an affordable figure for any major club and one that has put Barcelona on alert.

Sporting director Deco and his team see him as a perfect market opportunity: a young footballer with room to develop and available for a fee well below his potential value.

Barcelona’s strategy involves activating the clause, securing the player, and immediately loaning him out to another La Liga side.

This would allow the club to avoid the issue of registering him straight away, given the ongoing Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Widespread interest in Etta Eyong

Eyong’s impact in La Liga has been immediate, and his name is already circulating strongly among the sporting departments of Spanish and European clubs.

Indeed, Barcelona are not alone in pursuing the forward. Real Betis, Real Sociedad, and several Premier League clubs have made enquiries, while Levante and Oviedo have expressed interest in a possible loan deal.

For Barcelona, the signing of the striker would represent a long-term investment. With Robert Lewandowski approaching the latter stages of his career, the club’s sporting department is actively seeking attacking options for the future.

Securing Eyong for under €10 million would be a strategic move aligned with the club’s policy of investing in young talent before their market value rises.

Barcelona’s current transfer model is focused not only on strengthening the squad but also on ensuring that such investments carry limited risk. If a player fails to establish himself in the first team, the club views them as an asset that can be revalued and eventually sold.

The cases of Mika Faye and Julian Araujo illustrate this approach: both were signed as young prospects, and even if they did not break into the first team, their development ensured that the club did not lose on the investment, but generated income through sales.
