AFE president criticises La Liga’s Villarreal-Barcelona in Miami plan – ‘How can we accept something…’

La Liga’s proposal to move the league game between Villarreal and Barcelona in December from El Madrigal to Miami has attracted a lot of criticism.

From other La Liga clubs, including Real Madrid, to the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE), and UEFA have all voiced their concerns about the proposal.

Despite that, it appears like Javier Tebas & Co. will proceed with the idea, with both Barça and Villarreal very much on board.

AFE president criticises La Liga

Now, David Aganzo, president of the AFE, once again voiced his opposition on Sunday to La Liga’s plan to stage the Villarreal–Barcelona clash in Miami.

Speaking on RNE (h/t MARCA), he argued that “you can’t change workers’ conditions every ten minutes.”

Aganzo pointed to a “lack of communication with the players” in the way the match is being arranged and admitted he was surprised that “Tebas has this game so clear.”

The AFE president further stated that, as a member of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), he had already opposed the idea.

“There are a lot of people waiting. There are many clauses in the agreement that we have to see to play a league match outside of Spain,” said Aganzo.

Concluding, he added: “They haven’t sent us anything, nothing, we don’t know anything about that match… How can we accept something we know nothing about?”

UEFA is expected to deliver its verdict on the matter this week. Despite the criticism and concerns, everything indicates that Barcelona and Villarreal will face off against each other at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami come December.
