My Mother’s Hands Pre-Mother’s Day Brunch

My Mother’s Hands was created out of grief of Alexis losing her mother, Patricia Jordan in 2017 to lung cancer. The loss of a mother is a life-altering event. Grief is fundamental to human experience; the loss of a mother with her unique role as nurturer, first teacher, and advisor can be acute. My Mother’s Hands is a community-based organization that seeks to provide care, support, and essential resources for bereaved children and adults, allowing them to build on a foundation of community for hope and healing after losing their mother. Mainly, as we all deal with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, My Mother’s Hands is a community response to the pervasive grief that the pandemic has left in its wake. My Mother’s Hands is a unique response because it can provide a sense of belonging, with activities meant to encourage discussion, spark enthusiasm, and provide hope for joy.
The purpose of the My Mother’s Hands Annual Pre-Mother’s Day Brunch is a space for all to experience celebration, acknowledgment, and love as those with living mothers. They celebrate the journey and cherish the memory of the mothers we carry in our hearts with fellowship and music. This year, they are looking forward to our Keynote speaker, retired San Francisco 49er and Pro Football Hall of Famer Patrick Willis, who will share a moving personal reflection on the loss of his mother. Registration includes a complete meal & access to the entertainment and activities.
