Massimiliano Allegri insists that Milan’s goal is not to win the Serie A title in 2025-26, but rather to achieve Champions League qualification, and the Rossoneri tactician has an exact points target in mind in order to achieve that feat.

Milan sit at the top of the Serie A standings after seven matches of the 2025-26 campaign following a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in San Siro on Sunday. The Rossoneri are on an unbeaten run of six matches, made up of five wins and a 0-0 draw away against Juventus, following their surprise opening-day defeat against Cremonese.

Allegri: ‘We need a minimum of 74 points, Milan are not thinking about Napoli or Inter’

Up next for the Rossoneri is a home match against newly-promoted Pisa on Friday night.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Allegri joked: ‘We have to do a bit better than we did the last time we played a newly-promoted team’, in reference to his side’s loss to Cremonese in August.

He went on to predict exactly how many points he thinks Milan will need to achieve their goal from the start of the season.

“Winning is never easy. We want to take another step forwards and slowly head towards the tally that qualifies us for the Champions League. That is our goal. We need a minimum of 74 points,” he claimed.

“We’re not thinking about Napoli or Inter, we are thinking about tomorrow. We have to keep our feet on the ground.”
