Indian badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be up against the top-seeded South Korean pairing of Seo Seung Jae and Kim Won Ho on Sunday in the title clash of the China Masters men’s doubles event.

Rankireddy and Shetty opened their efforts in China with a 24-22, 21-13 win over the Malaysian pairing of Arif Junaid and Roy King Yap, before breezing past the Chinese Taipei duo of 21-13, 21-12 in the Round of 16.

The Indian pairing continued their momentum with a 21-14, 21-14 triumph over the Chinese duo of Ren Xiang Yu and Xie Honan in the quarterfinal of the tournament before securing their place in the summit clash with a 21-17, 21-14 victory over Malaysians Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the semifinals of the event.

Sat-Chi, as they are fondly known fell at the final hurdle at the Hong Kong Open last week and remain in quest of a maiden title this year following a series of injury and form setbacks.

However, it will be a task easier said than done for the eighth-seeded Indian pairing against the top-seeded duo of Seo and Kim, who will be the bookies’ favourites to win the crown.
