Hainan Free Trade Port has launched a sunny tourism boost in Hong Kong to remind everyone about the island’s choice of palm-lined coast, cultural gems, and lively traditions. The campaign kicked off on September 7, 2025, to introduce both residents and international travellers to the island’s must-see spots. Organized by the Hainan Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports, the program covers everything, from Instagram-worthy beaches to mouth-watering Hainanese noodles, welcoming everyone to experience the warm, welcoming people of Hainan.

The series of five-day events includes a themed conference, a tourism photo exhibition, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition, and a Li brocade fashion show. These events not only aim to boost awareness of Hainan’s tourism offerings but also build stronger ties between Hainan and Hong Kong, positioning the island as a premier destination for international travellers.

Introducing Hainan’s Beauty and Culture to Hong Kong

The “All the Sun, All the Fun” conference marked the launch of the tourism promotion activities, drawing nearly 100 attendees from travel agencies, cultural organisations, and tourism boards. This event served as a perfect platform for promoting Hainan’s warm weather, pristine beaches, and extensive tourism resources. Hainan’s partnership with Hong Kong, a global financial and cultural hub, reflects the potential for synergistic tourism collaboration, as both regions can complement each other’s offerings.

One of the event’s main attractions was the tourism photo exhibition, featuring over 80 stunning photographs that beautifully showcased the island’s top ten tourism products, such as its ocean experiences, health tourism, and even aerospace activities. The exhibition inspired numerous visitors, including Hong Kong local Huang Wenhua, who expressed a strong desire to visit the island after seeing these captivating images.

In addition to the visual displays, the event also highlighted Hainan’s intangible cultural heritage—including traditional Li brocade clothing, which has been crafted for over 3,000 years. This showcased the island’s cultural richness, merging history with modern fashion. Li brocade designs were a standout during the event, providing a glimpse into the region’s artisanal craftsmanship and cultural narratives, much to the interest of visitors in Hong Kong.

Cultural Performances and Fashion Highlight Hainan’s Heritage

The exhibition also offered an immersive experience into Hainan’s ethnic cultures, featuring traditional performances, ethnic costumes, and local specialties. Visitors were treated to the beauty of Li brocade clothing, known for its intricate patterns that tell stories of the Li people’s heritage. Tang Qiuchen, an executive at Hainan Li Brocade Culture Communication Co. Ltd., explained that the patterns woven into Li brocade reflect not just art, but the island’s history and culture.

The Li brocade fashion show created a dynamic link between traditional heritage and modern fashion trends, offering a unique fusion of Hainan’s past and present. This event sparked interest in both cultural enthusiasts and fashion-forward individuals, showing Hainan as a destination where rich cultural experiences blend seamlessly with the modern world.

Strengthening Hainan’s Tourism Global Presence

As part of the tourism promotion, the Hainan Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports also awarded Tourism International Promotion Ambassador certificates to six Hong Kong influencers, recognising their role in spreading awareness of Hainan’s tourism offerings through social media. This initiative not only strengthens Hainan’s online presence but also taps into the growing influence of digital platforms to promote destinations to younger audiences.

Influencers like Lin Lijun, one of the recipients of the recognition, expressed excitement about sharing her personal experiences in Hainan. Through her social media channels, she plans to share the island’s warmth, gentle sea breezes, and relaxed lifestyle, inviting her followers to discover the tropical island for themselves. This ambassador initiative is expected to enhance Hainan’s global visibility and attract more visitors seeking a peaceful getaway.

A Promising Future for Hainan’s Tourism

With Hainan’s increasing popularity as a tropical destination, the region is positioning itself to become a key player in the global tourism market. The tourism promotion activities held in Hong Kong demonstrate a strategic approach to marketing Hainan’s unique offerings to international audiences. By leveraging local culture, innovative fashion, and scenic beauty, Hainan is paving the way for greater tourism success.

Looking ahead, Hainan is set to become an even more appealing destination for tourists seeking a blend of culture, nature, and relaxation. This promotional campaign is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new chapter for Hainan Free Trade Port as it embraces a more dynamic tourism model, engaging with global travellers and encouraging cultural exchange.

Embracing the Allure of Hainan

Hainan’s tourism promotion activities in Hong Kong mark an exciting milestone for the island’s tourism sector. By showcasing its vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and rich heritage, Hainan is poised to capture the attention of international travellers. As the tourism industry continues to recover globally, Hainan’s blend of modern amenities, cultural depth, and tropical charm offers a compelling destination for all types of travellers seeking both adventure and relaxation.

Driven by strategic plans aimed at expanding its international footprint, Hainan Free Trade Port is steadily emerging as a premier hub where travellers can immerse themselves in breathtaking natural scenery while also experiencing living traditions, positioning it as a can’t-miss stopover in the immediate future.
